From XADUD, together with Metzineres, the member organizations of CATNPUD (ARSU, Asaupam, AUPA&#8217;M, \u00c0mbit Prevenci\u00f3, REMA, and CatFAC), and anti-prohibitionist allies, we joined the <strong><em>Support Don\u2019t Punish<\/em> Global Day of Action<\/strong> once again this year. This grassroots community-based campaign advocates for <strong>drug policies grounded in public health, human rights, and the genuine participation of people who use drugs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11176\" src=\"http:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SDP-2026-def.pdf1_-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"424\" height=\"529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SDP-2026-def.pdf1_-scaled.jpg 2050w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SDP-2026-def.pdf1_-1230x1536.jpg 1230w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SDP-2026-def.pdf1_-1640x2048.jpg 1640w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SDP-2026-def.pdf1_-600x749.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 424px) 100vw, 424px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year, global community organizing has become essential. The tightening of control policies\u2014surveillance, fines, and expulsion from public spaces\u2014hits especially hard those of us who use drugs, those of us living in poverty, without housing, or in situations of social exclusion. Our proposal\u2014and our response\u2014was to reclaim the street as a territory of community, political participation, contested meanings, and care.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #680052;\"><b>The Street as a Political Tool<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>In the middle of the Rambla del Raval, <strong>Kaoskolectivo, Noah, Mar\u00eda Lech, and Voces An\u00f3nimas<\/strong> filled the stage with music and words, offering an open invitation to reflect and join the fight against stigma. The day was marked by active participation: \u00c0mbit\u2019s community theatre, the fanzine workshops by AUPA&#8217;M and ASAUPAM, the collective mural, the self-portraits, and the game on the impact of fines turned the street into a laboratory of ideas and care. Each activity was an invitation to think, create, and resist together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11155\" src=\"http:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8839.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"307\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8839.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8839-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11137\" src=\"http:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8907.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"306\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8907.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8907-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #680052;\"><b>The Symbolic Trial: Putting the Punitive System in the Dock<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The central moment of the afternoon was the <strong>symbolic trial of the \u201cwar on drugs.\u201d<\/strong> For decades, prohibitionism has put people who use drugs in the dock, criminalizing poverty, stigmatizing lives, and pushing them out. This year, we reversed the narrative: <strong>we were the ones who put the system on trial<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Through testimonies rooted in lived experience, legal perspectives, and expert evidence, the performance made clear something we already know: the so-called \u201cwar on drugs\u201d <strong>has not reduced use or dismantled illegal markets<\/strong>, but it has produced criminalization, imprisonment, institutional violence, and systematic violations of human rights.<\/p>\n<p>The People\u2019s Jury delivered its verdict:<strong> the \u201cwar on drugs\u201d was found guilty<\/strong> of being nothing more than <strong>a war on people<\/strong>, one that deepens the criminalization of women, migrants, racialized people, and people living in poverty. With that sentence, we collectively demanded d<strong>rug policies centered on health, dignity, harm reduction, social justice, and the genuine participation of people who use drugs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11122 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8953.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8953.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A8953-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #680052;\"><b>The Dialogue Continues: Community Radio and a Festive Closing<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>After the trial, the debate moved to a <strong>live community radio<\/strong> broadcast, where <strong>Tre Borr\u00e0s, DoctorX, and Aura Roig<\/strong> reflected on the progress\u2014and setbacks\u2014since the beginning of prohibitionism, and explored alternatives from community, health, and human rights perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>The day closed with music by <strong>Doplerfx and Polmay<\/strong>, and with a collective celebration as an expression of the belief that another way of being in the world is possible: with community, with joy, and with resistance.<\/p>\n<p>The following day, <strong>DoctorX<\/strong> led the first edition of the workshop <em>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/metzineres.org\/es\/taller-de-hackeo-al-prohibicionismo-reducir-el-impacto-de-la-ley-mordaza-sobre-la-salud\/\">Hacking Prohibitionism: Reducing the Impact of the Gag Law on Health<\/a><\/em>\u201d at L\u2019Arravalera, as a participatory proposal to delve deeper into strategies for <strong>dismantling the punitive imagination<\/strong> and building alternatives through creativity and collective action.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11101 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A9020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"416\" height=\"277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A9020.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/metzineres.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/B1A9020-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 416px) 100vw, 416px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Support . Don\u2019t Punish<\/em> is not an isolated event. It is a reminder that every day there is a choice: to continue reproducing punishment or to commit to care.
